Why would anyone want a tummy tuck?  The major reason why people get tummy tucks are because they have recently lost a lot of weight quickly and their skin in the region is stretched and not as elastic as many other skin areas.

Some people get a tummy tuck to get a toner belly without the work out. But sometimes working out doesn’t help the area take its original form.  Many people who have lost drastic amounts of weight or have been pregnant know how it feels. It is basically to feel and look good.  There are many reasons why people get a tummy tuck.

A tummy tuck is basically the cutting off excess skin. This requires surgery that doesn’t take long at all.  A tummy tuck is also known as abdominoplastry and is a long-term solution to sagging tummies. The most common benefit of having the procedure done is the appearance of a flatter and smaller waistline.  The amount of change will depend on the depth of the surgery.  You will also need to tone and build muscle in the region after snuggery for maximum results.

As for the actual procedure, it is preformed under anesthesia.  For a full tummy tuck incisions are made just above the private area on the lower abdomen.  Then they will make an incision near the belly button.  The surgeon will then tighten the muscles to create a more muscular waist. 

The excess skin is literally removed from the patient.  Many people are happy with the results, but they are very sore and in pain after the surgery.  Some times it doesn’t work for everyone, depending on the quality of the muscles in the abdominal area.  The incisions are closed with usually staples or stitches.

The surgery does leave a scar like most surgeries, but with laser surgery or products, you should be able to get the scar to fade quickly.  This type of surgery is usually done with liposuction.  The liposuction makes the hips are body curves more what the patient would want to have.  These two surgeries give the body a nice new shape that will make the patient feel better about their self image.
